by Daveda Gruber:
Thursday Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was hospitalized. She fractured three ribs on her left side in a fall at her office a day earlier.
Ginsburg who is 85, went home after the fall that occurred in her Supreme Court office. Later she reported experiencing pain.
Ginsburg was admitted to George Washington University Hospital “for observation and treatment.”
Ginsburg has survived more than one health scares. She broke two ribs in a fall in 2012. She has had two bouts with cancer and has had a stent implanted to open a blocked artery in 2014.
Ginsburg was former President Bill Clinton’s first Supreme Court pick.
She is a liberal justice, who studied at Harvard Law School. She was named to the Supreme Court in 1993 to replace retiring Justice Byron R. White.
Ginsburg is the court’s oldest member. She reportedly hired clerks for the term that extends into 2020. That would mean Ginsburg has no plans to retire.
I feel that Ginsburg is playing a deadly game by not retiring in her ‘golden years’ instead of sitting on the bench on the Highest Court of the land to try and stop Trump from nominating another justice.
On Thursday the court plans to go ahead with a courtroom ceremony welcoming new Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
Kavanaugh joined the court last month. President Trump and new acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker were expected to attend.
Ginsburg is a frail woman. She is old. I wish that she would just go ahead and retire.
